Water is nature's machine. Without water, life on earth, whether animals, plants or humans, would not exist. Many think that all life on this planet could be supported by the vast oceans that surround it. But this is not always the case. Despite the many underground reservoirs teknologi, rivers and lakes that surround Indonesia, there are still at least 24 million Indonesians who lack safe drinking water and 38 million people who do not have access to adequate sanitation.

East Nusa Tenggara, one of the many islands in Indonesia, almost 25% of families live without access to adequate and sustainable sources of drinking water. They have to walk many kilometers just to get water for their daily needs. This inspired Komodo Water, a social enterprise founded in 2012, to create access to clean and affordable water for remote villages around Taman Komodo and Flores, supported by renewable and sustainable technology provided by Microsoft.

In particular, the application developed with Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS), which is a native cloud application solution from Microsoft Azure, helps Komodo Water identify drinking water points in Labuan Bajo and recommend locations for pipeline construction, water treatment and distribution accordingly.

With this technology, Komodo Water has reached 16,000 people, identified 104 water sources in 118 locations surveyed, provided 107,187 liters of water, reduced fuel consumption by up to 30,000 liters, reduced plastic packaging by up to 40 tonnes and avoided at least 64,589 kilograms. CO2 emission. . Together with Microsoft, Komodo Water hopes to have an even bigger impact on Indonesia.

Komodo Water is one of many entities working together to create long term impact in Indonesia. Microsoft partner, NGO Water.org also pledged to provide water and sanitation for 1.5 million people in seven water-stressed countries by 2030. 92,000 people in Indonesia.

Another initiator is Jejak.in, a local startup that offers solutions based on artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to address the challenges of climate change in Indonesia. Utilizing Microsoft Azure, teknologi is able to measure more than 5.1 million tons of carbon stocks, monitor more than 450,000 hectares of land, record more than 4 million retail transactions, plant more than 2 million trees and collect data on more than 15,000 tree species, and 100 types of flora and fauna biodiversity.
All of these change agents adopted a similar strategy for achieving impact at scale: collaboration. water. and future carbon. -neutral.
